On May 24, 2021, Qasim tweeted: “I made this video about the lie that hamas uses Palestinian children as human shields it might help ppl here too lol [Laugh out loud].”

Qasim's tweet featured a Tiktok video where she claimed [00:00:34]: “However, despite how widely its been used there has never been a reporter or observer or any real evidence to show that that has ever been done.”

Qasim’s Tiktok video also asserted [00:00:22] that the claim that Hamas has used human shields was “used often to justify the murder of children in Gaza by the Israeli government..”

On May 14, 2021, Qasim tweeted during OGW: “How does hamas use Palestinians as human shields? I don’t know much about them I just read that they’re a political organization trying to liberate Palestine by any means necessary. Have they done things that are wrong?”

On May 12, 2021, Qasim tweeted during OGW: “Palestinians are literally defenceless and yet ppl [people] still demonized them for fighting back.”

Qasim was responding to a tweet by anti-Israel activist Dunia Ghanimah, that read: “One Israeli bomb can easily wipe out my entire village and its inhabitants. 100 Hamas rockets can barely burn a tree. I hate when zionists compare them like they’re equal.”

During OGW, many of the rockets fired from Gaza were intercepted and destroyed by an Israeli missile defense system called the Iron Dome.

Admiring a Terrorist

On May 24, 2021, Qasim tweeted: “Palestinians are so strong.”

Qasim was responding to a tweet that featured quotes taken from an interview with Ghassan Kanafani, that read: “‘[Kanafani] You don’t mean peace talks, you mean capitulation, surrendering’ [Interviewer] ‘It’s better that way than dead though ?’ [Kanafani] ‘Maybe to you, but to us, it’s not. To liberate our country, to have dignity, to have respect, to have our mere human rights is something as essential as life itself.’”

Kanafani was a leading member and spokesperson for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) during the terrorist organization’s early years. Kanafani announced the PFLP’s responsibility for the Lod Airport Massacre of May 1972 and was linked to the airport attackers. The attack killed 26 people and wounded 80 others.

Promoting Incitement

On May 10, 2021, Qasim tweeted: “Hello, if you live in Canada please email our officials about stopping the ongoing expulsion of sheikh jarrah and the attack on al-Aqsa. Literally just a few clicks and takes less than a minute https://www.emailyourofficial.com/TrudeauStopAttackonAlAqsa … #SaveSheikhJarrah #SheikhJarrah #Attackonalaqsa #FreePalestine.”

Incitement surrounding Al-Aqsa and Sheikh Jarrah were leading factors in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at Israeli population centers from May 10 to 21, 2021. In response to rocket attacks from Gaza, Israel launched “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW),” striking military targets in the terrorist-controlled enclave.
Israel responded by launching “Operation Guardian of the Walls(OGW),” carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

On May 10, 2021, Qasim also tweeted: “They are throwing stun grenades at Palestinians breaking their fast Israelis are a special kind of evil #SaveSheikhJarrah #FreePalestine #AlAqsaMosque.”

On the same day, Qasim tweeted: “Ur ‘beautiful people’ are celebrating as the third most holy site to Muslims is being burned down. Keep talking about how y’all want peace though. Free Palestine 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸.”

Qasim’s tweet featured a video purporting to show Jews dancing and cheering while a tree burned near the Al-Aqsa mosque.

The fire was reportedly caused by Palestinian rioters shooting fireworks at Israeli police and was quickly extinguished with no damage to the mosque. However, social media users suggested that Jews were celebrating the destruction of the mosque, when the celebrants had in fact gathered in honor of Jerusalem Day, an Israeli national holiday.

On May 11, 2021, Qasim tweeted: “They literally set Al-Aqsa on fire.”

Qasim’s tweet referred to a video taken from the Temple Mount of the tree burning near the Al-Aqsa mosque.

On the same day, Qasim tweeted: “Each and every Israeli will witness god’s wrath.”

Qasim was responding to a tweet that featured photos taken inside the Al Aqsa mosque of damage caused following the riots, that read: “This is how the yards and prayer halls at al-Aqsa Mosque look like after an Israeli wave of violence and aggression against the Palestinian worshippers today.”

Palestinians have also frequently used the mosque as a location to stockpile stone slabs, fireworks and rocks, which they use to attack Israeli security officers and non-Muslim visitors to the Temple Mount.

Also on May 11, 2021, Qasim tweeted: “Literally every year, I genuinely don’t remember the last time I was fasting and did not see news about Israelis attacking Palestine.”

Qasim was responding to a tweet that read: “Have you noticed Israel have a pattern of mainly attacking Pali people during Ramadan?”

In April 2021, at the beginning of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, a series of viral videos circulated on Palestinian social media showing Palestinian youths physically assaulting Jews in Jerusalem. Israeli police and civilians were reportedly attacked by rioters with firecrackers, stones and glass bottles. Amid the escalation, Hamas fired rockets into Israel from Gaza. Israel responded by striking a Hamas weapons manufacturing site, a weapon smuggling tunnel and a military post.
