Ahmed Abdelhamid participated in a pro-Hamas rally on October 8, 2023, one day after Hamas murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped hundreds more on October 7, 2023.
In June 2023, Ahmed Abdelhamid’s bio on palestinewrites.org said he was a junior studying comparative politics and history at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn), which is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was also listed as a “student, writer, and organizer from Alexandria, Egypt.”
On October 8, 2023, the day after Hamas terrorists murdered nearly 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped over 250, anti-Israel groups in Philadelphia held an “Emergency Solidarity Rally.” Chants during the march to the rally featured various calls for Israel’s destruction and celebrations of Hamas terrorism using the euphemism “resistance.”
At the rally, activist Romance Albarqawi said during her speech: “What we saw yesterday morning was decolonization taking place!” and: “The resistance is justified!” Workers World Party activist Michael Wilson later said: “I think that we should all give an applaud right now to Hamas for a job well done!” Rally participants cheered in response to both speakers.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas murdered approximately 1,200 Israelis, kidnapped 251 and wounded thousands. War crimes included various systematic sexual crimes like gang rape and genital mutilation. Men and women were violated, even after being murdered. Victims who survived that day, including hostages, endured forms of humiliation and torture.
Gazans working in the targeted Israeli villages provided intelligence to Hamas on which families to kill and torture, including long-time employers. Many Palestinian civilians joined in and celebrated the attacks. Hamas livestreamed their crimes on social media, including to victims’ accounts for families to see.
