Yesterday, the governor of Missouri finally signed into law a long-awaited anti-BDS bill. The process took two years and likely would not have gotten this far, were it not for Missouri State Representatives using Canary Mission's carefully documented research to shred the testimony of a key BDS witness.
On February 14, 2018, Neveen Ayesh, the Government Relations Coordinator for American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), testified against the bill before the Missouri House of Representatives. Her testimony was replete with outright lies about her own views on Jews and Israel and included the claim that BDS is a peaceful movement.
Fast forward two years to the final hearing on the bill on May 14, 2020.
Missouri State Representatives, Jered Taylor and Nick Schroer, used Ayesh’s own words from her Canary Mission profile to disprove her testimony.
The State Representatives read aloud from Ayesh’s carefully documented tweets, proving that Ayesh has anti-Semitic and violent views regarding Jews and the State of Israel.
With Ayesh’s testimony discredited, the Missouri State Senate passed the anti-BDS bill that same day; and on Monday, July 13, 2020, the Governor of Missouri signed it into law.
Ayesh has a long history of working with BDS organizations and an even longer history of anti-Semitism. In addition to her position in AMP, she has ties to two more BDS organizations, St. Louis Palestine Solidarity Committee (PSC) and the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Missouri.
