Zoe Wool showed support for the pro-Hamas protest encampment at UofT in May 2024.

On May 27, 2024, UofT professor Zoe Wool participated [slide 4] in an anti-Israel “solidarity rally” that was in support of the encampment. At the rally, she stood in the back while holding an anti-Israel sign.

The rally was held at UofT’s St. George (UTSG) campus and was organized by the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) “to oppose attempts by the University of Toronto administration to remove the student encampment from campus.”

As of July 2024, Wool showed support for the encampment by signing on to a statement put out by UofT community members. The May 20, 2024 statement was part of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

The statement backed all the encampment’s demands, including divesting from the alleged “apartheid policies of the state of Israel and its ongoing genocide in Gaza.”

To show support, Wool submitted a “support selfie,” where text beside her face said: “DISCLOSE. DIVEST. CUT TIES.” Wool’s selfie featured her holding a printed sign that read: “As a Jewish faculty member / I support the student call to: / Disclose. Divest. / Cut Ties.”

UofT is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
