Overview

SynClair West has spread anti-Semitism as well as anti-Jewish conspiracy theories on Twitter. West has also mocked the Holocaust and promoted homophobia online.

West has self-identified as a “Hebrew Israelite,” in reference to the Black Hebrew Israelites, an African American group whose members claim to be the true descendants of the ancient biblical Hebrews.  

As of July 2020, West’s LinkedIn page said he was an “Independent R&B Artist, Security Officer, Actor, Air Force Veteran.” West wrote that he was a Busser at Islands Restaurants, from “Sep 2008 - Present” in Longbeach, California.

West’s LinkedIn page also said he studied at Joanne Baron-D.W. Brown Acting School in 2007.

As of the same date, West’s Facebook page said he attended Sanford-Brown College, from “2003-2005,” where he studied Broadcasting.

West’s Facebook page also said he was the “Solo artist and frontman” of Calevolution, a musical group..

Anti-Semitism

On July 15, 2020, West tweeted: “I'm with @NickCannon . Anyone who actually READS and KNOWS the Bible could see that the people who occupy #Israel right now, those Idumeans/Edomites, are NOT #Jews (Ezekiel 36:5). Even Arabs know those people aren't Jews.The REAL #Jews are us #BlackPeople of the slave trade.”

Edom is a kingdom in the Old Testament. BHIs allege that Jews and white people descend from the wicked Esau, whose descendants are called Edomites. BHIs refer to Jews as “Edomites” to also deny that Ashkenazi Jews, whose ancestors fled to Europe, are descendants of the biblical Israelites. BHIs claim that they themselves are the real descendants of Esau’s righteous brother Jacob, who was the progenitor of the Twelve Tribes of Israel.  

In July 2020, television star Nick Cannon was fired by ViacomCBS after he made anti-Semitic comments on his podcast, for which he later apologized. Cannon reportedly promoted various anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, including the claim that Jewish people control the media. Cannon also reportedly suggested that Jewish people were not real Jews and that African Americans were “the true Hebrews.”

On July 15, 2020, West tweeted: “I stand with ( #NickCannon ) @NickCannon . We are the true Hebrew #Israelites and we actually fit Bible prophecy regarding such people. No apology necessary. Shame on you @ViacomCBS

On July 13, 2020, West tweeted: “Before 70 a.d, it was MY PEOPLE living there, not yours. Me and my people are the real#Israelites. You and your entire family are some fake, phony, bastard a** converts. We WILL get our land back.”

West’s tweet was in response to another tweet that read: “Happy belated birthday to the land that made meand the place my heart always returns to in the quiet moments. My home forever#yomhaatzmaut.”

On the same day, West tweeted: “@JesseCohenInv Save the sob story. Compared to my fellow #BlackPeople, #Latinos, & #NativeAmericans, your people go through NOTHING. By the way, you're NOT Jews. Jew meansJudah, you Edomites are not Judah. In 1948, the Ezekiel 36:5 prophecy was fulfilled.”

West’s tweet included another tweet by a Jewish Twitter user that read: “... ~50% of all hate crimes in NYC this year were anti-Jewish. Sadly, anti-semitism is still very much alive and well.” The tweet also noted: “#JewishPrivilege is the implied notion that Jews aren't a real minority and don't experience any hatred. Unfortunately the statistics paint a different picture.”

On July 13, 2020, West also tweeted: “#JewishPrivilege is when you can claim that you're a people that you clearly are not and the world still believes you. Yes, #SynagogueofSatan, this is talking about you. Revelation 2:9.- #SynClaiR A REAL Jew from the tribe of#Benjamin! #TheRealJewsAreBlack.”

On June 8, 2020, West tweeted to UK-based Jewish researcher, David Collier: “@mishtal You should put Edom/Idumean in your profile instead of ‘Jew’ because according to Ezekiel 36:5 you're an Idumean. Biblically (Joel 3:1-8) and historically, THIS is what a #Jew looks like. I'm a Jew (Meaning Judah or of Judah Kingdom) , you are not. -#SynClaiR.”

On February 16, 2018, West tweeted: “@netanyahu and his people are Edomites/Idumeans according to Ezekiel 36:5. They are NOT the Jews, but they are thesynagogue ofSatan according to Revelations 2:9,3:9.”

On January 6, 2018, West tweeted: “If anyone should be evicted from Jerusalem, it's those imposters who call themselves #Jewish. (Rev. 2:9, 3:9).”

On September 18, 2017, West tweeted: “@MissxVendetta And you're a complete idiot if you think those Caucasians in Israel are the actual Jews. Even the Arabs know that they arent.”

On August 9, 2016, West tweeted: “And you haven't read Ezekiel 36:5 , Rev. 2:9 , Rev. 3:9 either. The White ‘Jewish’ people are Edomites, not Jews. @mcdonavins.”

Anti-Jewish Conspiracy Theories

OnJune 8, 2020, West tweeted: “@leekern13 Shut the hell up. There has never been a pact between #BlackPeople and the so-called ‘Jewish Community’ in the first damn place. It was ancestors of the Jewish Community which FUNDED the Transatlantic Slave Trade and owned the slave ships. Just stop.”

The claim that Jews were dominant in the Transatlantic Slave Trade was propagated in a book published by the Nation of Islam in 1991, a branch of the Black Nationalist Movement titled: “Secret Relationship between Blacks and Jews” 

The book has been discredited in a work titled: “Jews, Slaves, and the Slave Trade: Setting the Record Straight” by professor of History at City University, New York (CUNY), Eli Farber.
