Overview

Shiban Okab has spread anti-Semitism, promoted an anti-Israel conspiracy theory and spread hatredof Israel on Twitter.

In 2014, Okab was affiliated with Muslim Students Association (MSA).

As of March 2018, Okab’s Facebook page said he “studied Electrical Engineering” at the University of Akron (UA).

Anti-Jewish Social Media Posts

On October 10, 2015, Okab tweeted: “@ZakTheSannin Sick of what Yahood [Jews] are doing.”

On August 11, 2014, Okab tweeted: “You try to control the media, Force them to spread your lies, But the world has heard our cries,Palestine will never die.”

On May 2, 2013, Okab tweeted: “@Arab_Baller zionism was created the late 1890's and palestine was established as their desired state during WWI. #sneakyjews.”

On April 7, 2013, Okab tweeted: “@ZakHuseinWins @ZakHuseinWins you do have a big nose like Pinnochio, and like the Jews,, bro your the jewish Pinnochio!”

On the same day, Okab tweeted: “@ZakHuseinWins HAHAHAHA maybe.. lmaooo no bro you not. so that means you're just a jew, not pinnochio.”

Spreading Hatred of Israel

On October 10, 2015, Okab tweeted: “All this bulls**t Israel gets away with...and no one cares. Makes my heart hurt thinking about it.”

On August 2, 2014, Okab tweeted: “Israel has been killing innocent civilians since before its conception. Netanyahu claims that Palestinians ‘consider murderers to be heroes.’”

On July 23, 2014, Okab tweeted: “@sam_amick F**k that Zionist.”

On July 10, 2014, Okab tweeted: “An ethnic cleansing Zionists have been slowly executing with sadly no resistance..”

On July 13, 2014, Okab tweeted: “Israel and Palestine, an animated introduction.: for anyone who doesn't know about the conflict most pali's do.. http://youtu.be/Y58njT2oXfE.” The tweet linked to an anti-Israel propaganda video.

The video — produced by the anti-Israel Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) organization —  accused Israel of “institutionalized discrimination” against non-Jews.

The video also claimed that Israeli Arabs are second class citizens of Israel and misrepresented Israeli security policies as discriminatory and unjust.

The film portrayed Israel as an aggressive, oppressive force that can be influenced only through pressure. It also rejected peace talks as “theater to cover a land grab.”

On July 10, 2014, during Israel’s Operation Protective Edge (OPE), Okab tweeted: “What's happening in Gaza isn't Israelis defending themselves..this is genocide.”

Israel commenced Operation Protective Edge (OPE) in July 2014, to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.  

MSA

The MSA was  established by members of the Muslim Brotherhood in January 1963 at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with the goal of "spreading Islam as students in North America." A 2004 FBI investigation uncovered an internal Muslim Brotherhood document in which a brotherhood leader identified the MSA as "one of our organizations." 

The MSA reportedly has “nearly 600 chapters” located in the United States and Canada, and is “the most visible and influential Islamic student organization in North America,” boasting conferences, special events, publications, websites and other activities.

The organization includes a number of previous chapter presidents with explicit links to terrorist groups. Included are al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki (Colorado State University), Somali al-Shabaab militant leader Omar Shafik Hammami (University of South Alabama) and Pakistani Taliban recruiter Ramy Zamzam of the MSA's Washington, D.C. council.
