Overview

Jihan Salama [Jihan Hashem Salama] has promoted incitement as well as anti-Israel conspiracy theories. She has also spread hatred of Israel and demonized supporters of Israel and Zionism.

As of December 2020, Salama’s LinkedIn page said she was a Pharmacy Intern at Walgreens in New Lenox IL, from “Sep 2017 - Present” and a “PharmD Candidate” at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) from “2019 - 2023.”

As of April 2021, Salama was listed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) as an active licensed Pharmacy Technician in the Joliet, IL 60432 zip code. Salama’s license number was listed as “049253395” and effective from “09/26/2017,” slated to expire on “03/31/2022.” 

In November 2019, Salama was listed as having joined the Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists (ICHP) in September 2019.

As of December 2020, Salama’s Facebook page said she lived in Joliet, Illinois. 

Also as of December 2020, Salama used the alias “jihxn” on Twitter, as well as on Instagram.

Promoting Incitement

On July 14, 2017, Salama tweeted: “Allah yekhreb bayt israel [May Allah destroy the Jews’ homes].” 

Salama’s tweet was responding to a tweet from the same date that read: “Al-Aqsa is closed for the first time since 1969!”

On July 14, 2017, terrorists murdered two Israeli police officers outside the entrance to the Al-Aqsa compound, reportedly following claims that the Al-Aqsa Mosque was in danger. In response to the terror attack, Israel installed metal detectors and security cameras at the entrance to the holy site, which the authorities later removed, after further rioting and escalation in violence.

Promoting Anti-Israel Conspiracy Theories

Salama retweeted a September 29, 2020 tweet that read: “‘Today marks the 20th year since Israeli occupation forces brutally shot dead the child Mohammed Al Durra while his father did his best to protect him and shouted repeatedly: ‘The boy is killed.’”

The Al-Durah hoax is an iconic piece of anti-Israel propaganda, fabricated on September 30, 2000 at the start of the Second Intifada by a France 2 reporter.  


On September 25, 2020, Salama retweeted another tweet promoting the Al-Durah hoax.

Salama also retweeted an August 4, 2020 tweet that read: “Israel bombed Gaza and Syria yesterday and they sabotaged Iran three weeks ago. But I’m sure this Beirut explosion is just a coincidental accident.🙄#BeirutBlast.”

On August 4, 2020, an explosion at the port in Beirut, Lebanon killed over 150 people and injured thousands. Lebanese officials explained that the cause of the explosion was ammonium nitrate stored at a warehouse.

Anti-Israel outlets were quick to spread the conspiracy theory that Israel was behind the explosion. Independent fact-checkers ascertained that Israel was not involved.

Salama retweeted an August 4, 2020 tweet that read: “the same person who said arab women are too ugly and hairy to be raped by idf [Israel Defense Force] soldiers..which they do..f**k you and your disgusting government and your fake a** solidarity and everything you stand for, you worthless b**ch.”

The tweet Salama retweeted was responding to another tweet by an Israeli user that read: “I can’t believe people blame Israel for this. The entire country is literally shocked and shares in the grief of the Lebanese people because of this terrible tragedy. Ugh some people are just morons.”

On January 11, 2017, Salama tweeted: “Zionists run the world so it's not even surprising.”

The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is an anti-Semitic fabricated text that depicts wealthy Jews conspiring to take over the world. 

Spreading Hatred of Israel

Salama retweeted an October 20, 2020 tweet that read: “Stop referring to the Palestinian oppression as an isr*eli Palestinian conflict! it is NOT a conflict, it IS oppression, Palestinians are being OPPRESSED.”

On October 12, 2020, Salama tweeted: “...the israeli identity is a false one that’s built on genocide and erasure so if you identify with it then yes I do hate you and idc how you feel about it.”

Salama retweeted an August 29, 2020 tweet published during the coronavirus pandemic that read: “My heart breaks for Gaza everyday. Israel is weaponizing COVID. Again and again we get proof that this seige is an ethnic cleansing.”

Salama retweeted an August 13, 2020 tweet that read: “with Palestinian blood.” The tweet was responding to a tweet that read: “The UAE and Israel today write history🇦🇪🇮🇱.”
On August 13, 2020, the United States, Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) agreed to a joint statement referred to as the “Abraham Accords” in which the UAE consented to formally normalize its relationship with Israel. 

Salama retweeted an August 5, 2020 tweet, that read: “all i want is to witness the fall of isr*el in my lifetime, thats all i want.”

Salama retweeted an August 4 2020 tweet that read: “ I hate Israel, and if you disagree, block me.”

On March 14, 2019, Salama tweeted: “may allah strike you all down ameen.” Salama’s tweet included a tweet by the IDF that read: “We have just started striking terror sites in Gaza. Details to follow.”

Earlier that day, Israel had reportedly reacted to rockets fired at Tel Aviv from Gaza, by striking against “approximately 100 military sites belonging to Hamas throughout the Gaza Strip, including an underground rocket manufacturing facility.” 

On August 6, 2018, Salama tweeted a drawing of herself kicking “israelis” down a flight of stairs:

On May 26, 2018, Salama tweeted: “Palestinians are being ethnically cleansed and having their literal existence denied on the daily. For us mere existence IS resistance…”

On April 5, 2017, Salama tweeted: “Expand ur horizons, educate yourself on all the atrocities Israel has committed & you'll understand why even as a jew, u should condemn them…”

On January 13, 2017, Salama tweeted: “When someone asks my thoughts on Israel.” 

Salama’s tweet featured a photo of someone sprinkling smiling poop emojis onto an Israeli flag.

Demonizing Supporters of Israel

On June 17, 2019, Salama shared a tweet that read: “The Holy Trinity.”

The tweet featured a montage of three photos: one of Palestinian Soccer player Mohammed Saleh, another of Arab-American actor Rami Malek and another of Egyptian-Canadian actor Mena Massoud.

Salama wrote: “take that israeli a** kisser out of there,” referring to Mena Massoud, who was condemned for an Instagram post where he said he would be eating at an “Israeli inspired plant-based restaurant serving up all the Mediterranean classics.”

On January 27, 2019, Salama tweeted: “imagine I see muslims defending the state of Israel.” Salama added: “ur all idiots.”

On March 17, 2016, Salama tweeted: “Ronaldo > Messi's ugly Israel-supporting a**.”

Salama’s tweet referred to Argentinian Soccer player Lionel Messi who was targeted by BDS activists for playing soccer matches in Israel.

Demonizing Zionism

On May 12, 2017, Salama tweeted: “Jewish people that reject Zionism make me so happy.”

On November 5, 2016, Salama tweeted: “All these Zionists in my mentions as if I'm crying over their choice to support a racist, genocide-based state.”

On February 27, 2016, Salama tweeted: “@Hinda_Akel Imao salty a** Zionists •• ••.”
