Spreading Neo-Nazi Propaganda

On May 8, 2016, Olson tweeted a photo of a man with a bandana covering his face who wore an RWR shirt and holding a baseball bat. On the man’s shirt was the number “14,” a term affiliated with neo-Nazi groups. Olson wrote: “#white lives matter.”

In the neo-Nazi lexicon, the numeral 14 stands for the “14 Words,” a term created by infamous white supremacist David Lane, meaning: “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.

On May 3, 2016, Olson tweeted “#rwr” with an image titled: “Right Wing Resistance Enforcer,” that showed 12 individuals with batons and shields. On the shields were multiple neo-Nazi symbols, including the Othala Rune.

The Othala Rune was adopted by the Nazis “as part of their attempt to reconstruct a mythic ‘Aryan’ past. Following World War II, white supremacists in Europe, North America, and elsewhere began using the othala rune,” according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Hate Symbols Database.

On April 28, 2016, Olson tweeted a photo of himself wearing a shirt with a logo that said: “Urban Combat Battalion” and featured two shotguns behind a skull wearing a helmet.

Also on April 28, 2016, Olson tweeted: “#rwr,” accompanied by the same logo.

Olson retweeted an April 28, 2016 tweet that said: “@fuhrerious1488 HEIL HITLER.”

On April 28, 2016, Olson tweeted an image featuring Nazi swastikas and a symbol that stands for the Nazi Schutzstaffel, or Nazis S.S., a powerful military organization in Nazi Germany. The image said: “Right Wing Resistance Retaliators” and “AZ,” for Arizona.

White Nationalist Activism

On April 28, 2016, Olson tweeted five videos documenting his RWR activism. In two videos, he was holding and distributing anti-Islamic flyers. In another two videos, Olson stood on the side of the road, displaying an anti-ISIS sign. He wrote in one of these tweets: “#rwr Texas az.”

On April 28, 2016, Olson tweeted the logos of multiple RWR chapters, including chapters in Europe, New Zealand, Australia and Canada.

On the same day, Olson tweeted: “#rwr az,” along with an RWR flyer. In the center of the flyer was an RWR logo, showing a skull with baseball bats behind it and brass knuckles above it.

Also that day, Olson tweeted a photo of himself with someone else who was giving a Nazi salute. He wrote: “With my comrade Josh # white lives matter.”
