Overview

Jacob Zionts has marginalized pro-Israel organizations and condemned the Birthright Israel Jewish heritage tour. Zionts also opposed the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act (AAA), a bipartisan bill, drafted in response to growing antisemitism in the United States.

Zionts was reportedly an organizing committee member of the George Washington University (GWU) chapter of the anti-Israel Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), as of February 2019.

Zionts was also an activist with Divest This Time, the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign at GWU and helped pass a divestment resolution on campus in 2018.

As of May 7, 2019, Zionts was selected to serve as a Peace Corps Business Development Volunteer in Ukraine, departing August 11, 2019.

As of September 2019, Zionts’s LinkedIn page said that he was a Board Member at Open Hillel and his Facebook Introduction said he “Manages Open Hillel.” He was also listed on Open Hillel’s Facebook page as a “Team Member.”

Open Hillel is an organization that aims to “eliminate” Hillel International’s Standards of Partnership for Israel Activities, which ban partnerships between Hillel affiliates and groups that deny Israel’s right to exist, delegitimize the Jewish state or support the BDS movement.

Also as of September 2019, Zionts’s LinkedIn page said he was a graduate student at the University of St Andrews (St Andrews,) pursuing a masters degree in “Moral, Legal and Political Philosophy.”

As of the same date, his LinkedIn page also said he graduated from GWU in 2019, with a bachelor’s degree in “International Affairs and Philosophy.”
