On May 1, 2020, Alkhatib tweeted that she was transferring to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC). On November 26, 2019, Alkhatib tweeted that she wanted to major in Psychology and in April 2019, she indicated on Twitter that she aspired to be a Psychiatrist.
As of September 2020, Alkhatib used the handle “a.ya.h” on Instagram and “ayahpapaya” on Twitter.
Whitewashing Terrorism
On November 14, 2019, Alkhatib tweeted: “What’s intolerable is that Palestinians have been going through genocide. What’s intolerable is that literally everything is stripped away from Palestinians. What’s intolerable is that the United States supports Israel in nearly $4 billion each year. So defend itself from what?”Alkhatib’s tweet referred to a tweet by former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden that said: “Israel has a right to defend itself against terrorist threats. It is intolerable that Israeli civilians live their lives under the constant fear of rocket attacks. That's why our administration was such a strong supporter of Israel's life-saving Iron Dome.”
In November 2019, Israel launched Operation Black Belt to stop Palestinian rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel. The attacks were carried out in response to Israel’s elimination of Baha Abu al-Ata [Bahaa Abu Al-Atta], a senior commander of terror group Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) who was reportedly planning new terror attacks.
On May 13, 2020, Alkhatib tweeted: “Many Palestinians get shot and get bombed on the daily JUST for being Palestinian, illegally occupying their territory, and invading their homes but you want to apologize to Israelies because a few IDF soldiers died from rock throwing.”
The day before, on May 12, 2020, an Israeli soldier was killed when a Palestinian terrorist killed an Israeli soldier on an arrest raid, by dropping a large stone from a rooftop on his head.
Although romanticized as a form of “popular resistance,” rock throwing remains a deadly form of violence.
Spreading Hatred of Israel
On July 15, 2020, Alkhatib tweeted: “I hope to be alive to see the day that Israel falls.”On April 13, 2020, Alkhatib tweeted: “I would also like to take this opportunity to educate you all that Israel is ethnically cleansing Palestinians and committing acts of genocide towards them so don’t be fooled by propaganda, and that the land rightfully belongs to the Palestinians #FreePalestine.”
On January 29, 2020, Alkhatib tweeted “what I will do is drop this for everyone” with an image of a series of maps that claimed that lands once controlled by Britain, Egypt and Jordan as autonomous “Palestinian land,” were purportedly stolen by Israel.
On January 28, 2020, Alkhatib tweeted: “Us Palestinians will never accept a two state solution, or anything less than getting our land back that is rightfully ours.”
Alkhatib’s tweet included a tweet by U.S. President Donald Trump that outlined his proposed peace plan to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and text reading: “This is what a future State of Palestine can look like, with a capital in parts of East Jerusalem.”
On January 15, 2020, Alkhatib tweeted: “This Israeli guy at the mall tried calling me over to sell me some of his skin care products, I looked at him and ignored them walked away.”
