Christine Hong
Overview
Christine Hong is a university professor who has spread hatred of Israel, including as the lead writer of high school course criteria for ethnic studies in California.
As of February 2024, Hong was listed as a professor and a department chair at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC).
As of August 2023, Hong was serving as co-chair and spokesperson of the University of California (UC) working group responsible for developing the California high school ethnic studies requirement for admission into the UC system. Hong was also the “lead writer of the course criteria.”
As of the same date, Hong was also a principal member of the anti-Israel Institute for the Critical Study of Zionism (ICSZ).
Hong is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
As of February 11, 2024, Hong was listed online as a member of the founding collective of ICSZ. The organization’s “Points of Unity” state: “Zionism is a settler colonial racial project…We join in resistance to structures of racism, group supremacy, violence, militarism, colonialism, and capitalism…”
As of February 11, 2024, Hong was listed on the UCSC website as chair of the Critical Race and Ethnic Studies (CRES) Department. UCSC is located in Santa Cruz, California.
As of the same date, Hong was also listed as a professor of CRES and literature at UCSC.
