Comparing Israel to Nazi Germany
On January 28, 2021, Elsamra-Gewida tweeted a fabricatedquote misattributed to Albert Einstein that read: “‘It would be my greatest sadness to see Zionist Jews do to Palestinian Arabs much of what Nazis did to Jews.’#FreePalestine.”The maps claim that lands once controlled by Britain, Egypt and Jordan as autonomous “Palestinian land” were purportedly stolen by Israel. In February 2016, publisher McGraw-Hill Education recalled copies of a college textbook containing the fraudulent maps. In October 2015, American cable news network MSNBC apologized for airing a similar series of maps and retracted them.
Whitewashing Hamas Terrorism
On July 27, 2014, during Israel’s “Operation Protective Edge (OPE)” against Hamas in Gaza, Elsamra-Gewida tweeted: "’Blaming Hamas for firing rockets is like blaming a woman for punching her rapist..’"Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.
Hamas fired over 4,564 missiles and rockets — including Grad rockets — at Israeli population centers during OPE in July of 2014.
Supporting a Terrorist
On December 23, 2013, Elsamra-Gewida tweeted a quote from an article to Twitter that read: “Palestinian prisoner Samer Issawi released from Israeli Jail…” Elsamra-Gewida’s tweet included a link to the article that hailed Issawi as a “resistance icon.”Samer Issawi is a member of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) who received a 26-year prison sentence in 2002. During the second intifada, Issawi manufactured and distributed pipe bombs and fired indiscriminately on Israeli civilian vehicles. In December 2013, Issawi called for the kidnapping of Israelis, saying: “The [Palestinian] prisoners' release will be brought about by kidnapping and [prisoner] exchanges. Nothing will happen without that.”
Glorifying Intifada Violence
On May 15, 2011, Elsamra-Gewida tweeted: “Long Live Palestine, Long Live the Intifada. #Nakba.”Since the early 2000s, the term “intifada,” which translates from Arabic as “uprising” or “insurrection,” has carried the connotation of violence.
The term “Nakba” is generally translated as “catastrophe” in Arabic, referring to the outcome of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is a term often used to delegitimize the creation of the State of Israel by defining it as a catastrophe.
Yasser Arafat popularized the anti-Israel chant [00:00:23] that translates into English: “With spirit, with blood, we will redeem you Palestine!”
The Arabic chant “with spirit, with blood we will redeem,” is invoked by protesters regarding a variety of causes.
On May 14, 2021, Elsamra-Gewida tweeted: “‘When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.’ #Palestine #Intifada #May15.”
Demonizing Israel
On May 25, 2021, Elsamra-Gewida tweeted: “a friendly reminder that there is no such thing as Israeli food. It is the colonization of cuisine an an attempt at cultural erasure.”On May 20, 2021, Elsamra-Gewida shared a graphic to Facebook with the text that read: “And when there's a ‘ceasefire’, please don't forget about us. We are still occupied. Still under Apartheid. Still under brutal colonial control…”
On May 20, 2021, Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire to end Operation Guardian of the Walls(OGW).
On May 19, 2021, Elsamra-Gewida accused Israel of “war crimes for the last 73 years” in a Facebook post and claimed that: “Your tax dollars are funding the illegal occupation of Palestine and an apartheid in 2021.”
On May 10, 2021, Elsamra-Gewida tweeted: “openly stating you support Israel is soooo embarrassing lol [laughing out loud] you’re pro genocide and ethnic cleansing? yikes. cant take that one back from the internet lol [laughing out loud].”
On July 21, 2014, during Israel’s “Operation Protective Edge (OPE)” against Hamas in Gaza, Elsamra-Gewida tweeted: “‘There are not '2 sides.' There is one occupier, one ethnic cleanser, one apartheid state, one home demolisher, one land confiscater. #Gaza.’”
Israel commenced OPE in July 2014 to stop rocket fire targeting Israeli civilians and to destroy Hamas attack tunnels.
On November 15, 2012, during Israel’s “Operation Pillar of Defense (OPD)” against Hamas in Gaza, Elsamra-Gewida tweeted: “How is a massacre like such not eligible enough to gain news coverage? How can the world be so sleepy about such a crisis!??? #Gaza #WAKEUP.”
Israel launched OPD to stop Hamas rocket attacks on Israeli civilians from Gaza. Over the course of eight days in November 2012, Palestinian terrorist groups fired more than 1,500 rockets at Israel. The majority struck Israel, damaging homes, schools and other civilian areas. Human Rights Watch noted: “Palestinian armed groups made clear in their statements that harming civilians was their aim.”
Spreading Incitement
Elsamra-Gewida retweeted a May 10, 2021 tweet that read: “The Al Aqsa mosque is not only a safe space for Palestinians to gather & share in spirituality, but it's also one of the holiest places in Islam. This is literally like attacking the Vatican.”The tweet was accompanied by another tweet that read: “if an attack like this happened in Vatican city the entire world be getting involved to put a stop to the violence, this breaks my heart #SaveSheikhJarrah #AlAqsaUnderAttack.”
Incitement surrounding Al-Aqsa and Sheikh Jarrah were leading factors in Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists firing over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at Israeli population centers from May 10 to 21, 2021. In response to rocket attacks from Gaza, Israel launched “Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW),” striking military targets in the terrorist-controlled enclave.
Endorsing an Anti-Israel Agitator
On December 28, 2017, Elsamra-Gewida tweeted a quote from an Al Jazeera Media Network (Al Jazeera) article that read: “Relatedly, girls like Ahed [Tamimi] who critique settler colonialism and articulate visions of communal care are not the empowered femininity that the West wants to valourise.”Supporting BDS
On April 4, 2011, Elsamra-Gewida tweeted: “Boycotting #Israel is the duty of every truth-seeking, peace-seeking human on Earth. Not doing so condones Israeli #apartheid. #Palestine.”On March 29, 2014, Elsamra Gewida tweeted: “Big News!! ‘@SJP_UMD: GUESS WHO JUST PASSED A DIVESTMENT RESOLUTION’.”
Elsamra-Gewida retweeted an August 15, 2019 tweet from anti-Israel activist Remi Kanazi that read: “This will only open more eyes to BDS and action for Palestine. It's only going to tip folks who were once on the fence. This isn't going to squash solidarity with Palestine, it's going to increase it. We need to be more bold in challenging Israeli apartheid and occupation.”
Poet Remi Kanazi is known for his aggressively anti-Israel spoken-word performances. He has supported terrorism and has compared Israel to both ISIS and the Ku Klux Klan.
SJP
SJP is a student organization engaged in anti-Israel activity on North American college and university campuses.
The first chapter of SJP was founded in 2001 at the University of California at Berkeley by Professor Hatem Bazian. Bazian has spread classic anti-Semitism, reportedly promoted religious anti-Semitism and defended the Hamas terror group. In 2004, Bazian called for “intifada” in America.
SJP organizes anti-Israel campaigns, including running annual Israel Apartheid Weeks, often in collaboration with Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and Muslim Students Association (MSA) campus chapters.
SJP has been a major force in pushing the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement on campuses. Chapters have initiated dozens of BDS resolutions in student governments, which have been proposed on or around Jewish holidays, a time when many Jewish students are off-campus.
SJP activists have reportedly physically assaulted, intimidated and harassed Jewish students, disrupted pro-Israel campus events and demonized pro-Israel campus organizations.
Chapters have often endorsed and campaigned for numerous terrorists and whitewashed terrorism.
BDS
The Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement was founded by Omar Barghouti in 2005 to challenge “international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.” BDS is an allegedly “Palestinian-led movement,” although leading BDS activists have admitted [00:01:01] this is not true.
One of the demands of BDS includes [point 3] what is generally known as the “right of return,” a demand discredited as a way to eliminate Israel. Barghouti said the “right of return” is a means to “end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.”
Barghouti has said that BDS “aims to turn Israel into a pariah state, as South Africa once was.”
In his activism, Barghouti has also said [00:05:55] regarding Israel: “Definitely, most definitely, we oppose a Jewish state in any part of Palestine. No…rational Palestinian, not a sellout Palestinian, will ever accept a Jewish state in Palestine.”
The movement has been linked to numerous terrorist organizations and received a public endorsement from Hamas in 2017.
BDS initiatives include calling on institutions and individuals to divest from Israeli-affiliated companies, promoting academic and cultural boycotts of Israel, and organizing anti-Israel rallies, protests and campaigns.
The movement’s most notable achievement has been the infiltration of university campuses through lobbying for “BDS resolutions.” In these cases, student governments and student groups, backed by their own anti-Israel members and affiliates, have proposed resolutions on some form of boycott of, or divestment from, Israel and Israeli-affiliated entities.
Boycott resolutions, although non-binding, have been passed by student governments on numerous North American campuses.
BDS activity is often aggressive and disruptive. It has been noted that universities that pass BDS resolutions see a marked increase in anti-Semitic incidents on campus. On one campus, when the student government debated a BDS resolution, reports emerged of violent threats against those opposing it.
